Italian luxury motorcycle manufacturer Ducati has officially launched the latest iterations of its high-performance supermoto range—the Hypermotard V2 and the track-honed Hypermotard V2 SP—in the Indian market. The lineup enters the domestic market with an introductory ex-showroom price starting at Rs 16.53 lakh, while the higher-spec SP variant commands a premium position at Rs 20.25 lakh.

Designed to blend the agility of a supermotard with the refinement of a high-displacement sports bike, the Hypermotard V2 family brings updated ergonomics, advanced rider electronics, and aggressive styling tailored for both urban agility and track performance.

Powertrain and Performance Dynamics

At the heart of the Hypermotard V2 range sits Ducati’s proven 937cc Testastretta 11° twin-cylinder engine. The liquid-cooled motor delivers a robust 114 hp at 9,000 rpm and peak torque of 96 Nm at 7,250 rpm, paired with a six-speed gearbox featuring an assist and slipper clutch alongside Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) Up/Down.

Engineers in Borgo Panigale have mapped the power delivery to offer instant low-end grunt, ensuring sharp throttle response across all operating ranges. With wide handlebars, a narrow midsection, and a commanding saddle height, the motorcycle is engineered to provide upright command and seamless weight transitions under aggressive cornering.

Variant Differences: Standard vs. V2 SP

While both trims share the core chassis and powertrain architecture, the V2 SP distinguishes itself through race-bred cycle parts and weight-reduction measures:

* Suspension: The standard V2 is equipped with fully adjustable 45mm Marzocchi upside-down front forks and a Sachs monoshock at the rear. In contrast, the V2 SP gains premium fully adjustable Öhlins hardware with increased suspension travel to manage extreme track inputs. * Wheels and Tyres: The V2 rides on standard cast alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres, whereas the SP variant features lightweight forged Marchesini rims wrapped in track-oriented Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP rubber. * Liveries and Aesthetics: The SP model boasts an exclusive racing-inspired tricolour livery, carbon-fibre front mudguard, and carbon timing belt covers, contributing to lower unsprung weight and sharper steering response.

Comprehensive Electronics Suite

The Hypermotard V2 lineup comes loaded with a sophisticated electronics package governed by a 6-axis Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). The electronic aids include:

* Multi-level Bosch Cornering ABS with Slide-by-Brake functionality * Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO * Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO * Multiple Riding Modes (Sport, Touring, and Urban) * Full-colour TFT instrumentation offering clear ride telemetry and interface navigation

Availability and Market Placement

Bookings for both the Hypermotard V2 and Hypermotard V2 SP are now open across all authorized Ducati dealerships in India, with customer deliveries scheduled to commence in phases over the coming weeks. The model occupies a unique niche in the premium multi-cylinder supermoto segment in India, appealing directly to performance enthusiasts seeking an aggressive, track-capable alternative to traditional naked streetfighters.
