Chandrababu Naidu Targets Jagan Reddy with 'Kansa Mama' Remark Amid YS Family Feud
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu intensified his attack on YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy, invoking mythological references amid escalating YS family tensions.

Speaking at a public gathering, Naidu seized on recent domestic controversies surrounding wedding invitations and family asset disputes involving Jagan Mohan Reddy and his sister, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Y.S. Sharmila.
Escalating War of Words
Addressing party workers and constituents, Naidu alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy had prioritized personal animosity over traditional familial bonds. Referring to tensions surrounding recent family celebrations and Sharmila's public grievances, Naidu questioned Reddy's conduct toward his own sister and relatives.
"In our culture, family relationships and obligations during auspicious occasions like weddings carry immense emotional value. When an uncle turns hostile toward his sister and her children over politics and property, history remembers such figures like Kansa," Naidu remarked, referencing the mythological uncle of Lord Krishna known for cruelty toward his sister's progeny.
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief asserted that the ongoing political friction within the state reflects a deeper lack of democratic values and personal empathy in the former administration.
Background of the YS Family Rift
The political feud between Jagan Mohan Reddy and Y.S. Sharmila has intensified significantly over the past year. Following the demise of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, the family initially presented a unified political front. However, fractures widened following Sharmila's political foray into Telangana and her eventual return to Andhra Pradesh politics as the state Congress chief ahead of the 2024 assembly elections.
Tensions escalated into the public sphere over several key issues:
* Asset Division: Longstanding property disputes between Jagan Reddy and Sharmila have spilled into legal filings and open letters. * Ceremonial Snubs: Sharmila and her family members have repeatedly voiced displeasure over alleged coldness, absence, and formal distance maintained by Jagan during major family milestones, including her son's wedding. * Electoral Clash: Sharmila mounted an aggressive campaign against Jagan's YSRCP in the recent elections, openly accusing him of betraying their father's legacy.
YSRCP's Counterattack
YSRCP leaders swiftly rebuffed Naidu's comments, accusing the Chief Minister of stooping to personal domestic matters to divert attention from governance challenges.
Party spokespersons emphasized that personal matters between siblings should not be exploited for political mileage, questioning Naidu's own political history regarding familial alliances within the NTR family.
With municipal and local administrative issues heating up across Andhra Pradesh, the exchange indicates that personal attacks and references to family loyalty will continue to dominate the political discourse between the ruling NDA alliance and the opposition YSRCP.
