TTV Dhinakaran Claims AIADMK Formulated Backup Strategy Over Vijay's TVK Impact
AMMK leader TTV Dhinakaran claimed the AIADMK devised an alternate political strategy to navigate Tamil Nadu's shifting alliances if actor Vijay's TVK failed to make an impact.

Speaking to reporters on regional political alignments, Dhinakaran alleged that the AIADMK leadership, headed by former chief minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, had been carefully calibrating its moves around the entry of Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). According to Dhinakaran, the opposition party was prepared with alternative coalition calculations depending on whether TVK successfully disrupted the traditional bipolar Dravidian political spectrum or fizzled out following its inaugural state conference.
Shifting Dynamics Ahead of 2026 Polls
Tamil Nadu's political landscape has entered a period of recalibration following Vijay's formal entry into active politics. With the 2026 Legislative Assembly elections on the horizon, established regional outfits and national players are scrutinizing how TVK's rhetoric against ideological corruption and political hegemony could alter vote-share distributions.
Dhinakaran claimed that the AIADMK had adopted a wait-and-watch posture during the buildup to TVK’s massive public launch in Vikravandi. He argued that the party hierarchy had prepared secondary tactical maneuvers to consolidate anti-incumbency votes against the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) if Vijay's outfit failed to draw substantial public traction.
"The AIADMK leadership was assessing the ground reality very closely," Dhinakaran stated during his media interaction. He maintained that opposition leaders were wary of committing early resources and alliance overtures before gauging the public response to TVK's organizational launch.
AIADMK Pushes Back Against Allegations
AIADMK representatives have routinely rejected Dhinakaran's assertions, emphasizing that their electoral apparatus remains self-reliant and focused on countering the DMK administration's policies. Senior leaders in the party have repeatedly dismissed claims that their campaign strategies rely on third-party political entities or external electoral catalysts.
Party insiders maintain that the AIADMK holds a well-entrenched cadre base across Tamil Nadu that does not require contingent positioning around newer political entrants. However, political analysts note that multiple emerging fronts—including the TVK, the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) independent push, and smaller regional outfits—have complicated the state's traditional arithmetic, forcing all major players to keep multiple tactical options open.
Multi-Cornered Contest Brewing
Vijay's TVK has positioned itself as an alternative to both the ruling DMK and the AIADMK, directly taking aim at corruption while maintaining a secular-progressive stance. The actor's sharp critiques of dominant political dynasties have injected fresh unpredictability into the upcoming electoral cycle.
As party leaders engage in rhetorical sparring, Dhinakaran's remarks highlight the intense maneuvering underway behind closed doors. With months of coalition posturing ahead, Tamil Nadu's political formations continue to refine their strategies to adapt to an increasingly multi-cornered electoral contest.
