In a harrowing incident that has shocked Mumbai, a nine-month-old infant succumbed to critical injuries after his father allegedly flung him off a pedestrian skywalk during an intense domestic argument with his wife.

Local law enforcement authorities immediately took the accused into custody, initiating a murder investigation under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Heated Altercation on Public Footbridge

According to preliminary police reports, the family was walking along an elevated pedestrian skywalk when an altercation erupted between the couple. Witnesses reported that the disagreement rapidly escalated in severity.

In a sudden fit of rage, the father reportedly snatched the nine-month-old infant from his mother's arms and hurled the child over the railing onto the road beneath the elevated corridor.

Onlookers and commuters reacted with horror, rushing toward the impact site while others restrained the father on the skywalk until law enforcement officers arrived at the scene.

Emergency Response and Fatal Injuries

Bystanders and emergency responders promptly evacuated the severely wounded child to a nearby municipal hospital. Medical professionals attempted emergency resuscitation and intensive trauma care, but the infant had sustained catastrophic cranial and internal injuries from the severe impact.

Attending doctors formally declared the infant dead shortly after admission.

Legal Action and Ongoing Police Probe

Mumbai Police confirmed that an official First Information Report (FIR) has been registered. Investigators have detained the accused father and are recording statements from the mother, eyewitnesses, and local residents present during the altercation.

Forensic personnel visited the crime scene to secure physical evidence and map the trajectory of the fall. Police officials stated that investigators are also reviewing municipal CCTV camera footage along the skywalk and adjacent roads to reconstruct the exact sequence of events leading up to the fatal incident.
