Jamia Millia Islamia Restricts Public Gatherings, Shuts Campus Gates Amid Fresh Student Protest Calls
Authorities at Jamia Millia Islamia sealed campus gates and barred unauthorized public gatherings following fresh calls for student demonstrations.

Heightened Security and Movement Restrictions
Authorities at Jamia Millia Islamia in New Delhi have intensified security protocols across the university perimeter, closing primary entry gates and prohibiting unauthorized public assemblies. The precautionary measures were enforced following calls by several student outfits for demonstrations on campus.
University proctorial staff, supported by local law enforcement officers stationed along outer access points, established checkpoints to regulate foot traffic and verify the credentials of individuals seeking entry. Non-essential visitors have been turned away as administrative officials moved to maintain law and order across academic blocks and residential facilities.
Administrative Directives on Assemblies
In a security advisory circulated internally, university administration emphasized that no rallies, dharnas, or unapproved gatherings would be tolerated within the institutional premises. Officials warned that disciplinary action would be initiated against students or outsiders found attempting to breach campus regulations or organize unsanctioned demonstrations.
According to campus officials, the decision to restrict access and limit public gatherings was taken to ensure the uninterrupted conduct of classes, laboratory sessions, and upcoming administrative schedules. Movement across sensitive gates, including access corridors leading to Central Canteen and the administrative complex, remained closely monitored throughout the day.
Police Deployment Outside Perimeter
Outside the university walls along the Jamia Nagar and Okhla corridors, local police units and paramilitary personnel were deployed on standby to monitor peripheral activity. Barricades were placed at strategic intersections to prevent spontaneous spillover onto public thoroughfares.
Student groups expressed dismay over the sudden restrictions, arguing that peaceful assembly and campus dialogue should remain unobstructed. However, law enforcement officials maintained that the arrangements were strictly preventive and aimed at safeguarding public order and university property.
