Rahul Gandhi Unhurt After Convoy Vehicles Collide En Route to Uttar Pradesh Court
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi escaped unhurt after vehicles trailing in his motorcade suffered a minor collision while traveling to an MP-MLA court hearing in Uttar Pradesh.

According to officials familiar with the security arrangements, the incident took place when sudden braking along the highway caused two escort vehicles following toward the rear of the motorcade to collide. Local police units and specialized security personnel stationed along the transit corridor responded swiftly to secure the perimeter and assess the vehicles.
Minor Impact to Trailing Vehicles
Initial assessments confirmed that the collision was restricted to support and media liaison vehicles positioned several cars behind Gandhi's primary bulletproof transport. While the affected vehicles sustained light bumper and front-grille damage, no serious injuries were reported among security personnel or convoy occupants.
"The collision occurred due to an unexpected halt in the moving column, impacting two rear convoy units," a senior administrative official stated. "The Leader of the Opposition's vehicle was positioned well ahead, experienced no contact, and remained completely safe throughout the journey."
Following a brief halt to inspect vehicle roadworthiness and ensure security protocols remained intact, the convoy resumed its journey toward the district court.
Background to Court Appearance
Gandhi was traveling to appear before the designated MP-MLA special court in connection with an ongoing defamation proceeding dating back to 2018. The complaint, registered by a local political operative, pertains to public remarks allegedly made during a press conference in Bengaluru.
The Congress leader has previously complied with court summons in the matter, securing bail during an earlier appearance in February. His current travel formed part of the mandatory procedural steps and evidence-recording phases under the presiding magistrate.
Security Protocols Reviewed
State security officials and local district administration conducted a post-incident review of the convoy protocol. Route sanitization teams and traffic management squads were instructed to enforce strict buffer distances between VIP motorcades and trailing civilian or support fleets during inter-district transits.
Party representatives in Uttar Pradesh confirmed that Gandhi maintained his scheduled engagements and interacted briefly with legal representatives upon reaching the court complex.
