The Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia has issued a formal security and legal advisory urging Indian nationals residing across the Kingdom to refrain from photographing, filming, or sharing videos of air defense operations and missile interceptions on social media platforms.

Diplomatic officials warned that capturing or disseminating footage related to military activities, interceptor engagements, or damaged defense infrastructure violates the domestic laws of the host nation and could invite severe penal consequences, including lengthy prison sentences, substantial financial penalties, and deportation.

Strict Local Cybercrime Regulations

Under Saudi Arabia's Anti-Cyber Crime Law, producing, storing, or transmitting materials that impinge on public order, religious values, or national security is strictly prohibited. Air defense activities and military counter-measures fall directly under protected state security operations.

Authorities underscored that digital tracking by local law enforcement is comprehensive and immediate. Circulating unauthorized clips or live-streaming active defense responses over urban centers or industrial corridors compromises operational secrecy and can expose non-compliant individuals to swift prosecution under Article 6 of the Kingdom's cyber laws.

"All Indian expatriates are advised to adhere strictly to the laws and security directives of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Refrain from taking photos or videos of military installations, defense interceptions, or projectile remnants, and avoid uploading or circulating such content across messaging apps or social networks," the advisory noted.

Safety Protocols During Air Defense Alerts

In addition to legal compliance, the diplomatic mission highlighted critical safety protocols during interception alerts. When regional air defense systems engage aerial threats—such as incoming ballistic missiles or unmanned aerial systems—falling debris and secondary shrapnel pose significant danger to bystanders standing near windows, balconies, or open outdoor areas.

Expatriates were reminded to observe the following emergency guidelines:

* Seek Immediate Cover: Remain indoors, steer clear of glass windows, and stay inside reinforced residential areas until clear signals are observed. * Avoid Crash Sites: Do not gather near locations where intercepted fragments or debris have landed, as unexploded ordnance or toxic propulsion chemicals may present lethal hazards. * Do Not Spread Unverified Claims: Rely solely on authorized briefings from official Saudi government agencies and state defense releases rather than speculative social channels.

Protecting the Expatriate Community

India maintains one of the largest expatriate communities in Saudi Arabia, with approximately 2.5 million Indian citizens working across corporate, healthcare, engineering, and service sectors. Diplomatic missions frequently issue proactive guidance to safeguard citizens against unintended legal infractions in jurisdictions with stringent digital surveillance and media control frameworks.

Community welfare organizations and Indian expatriate associations across Riyadh, Jeddah, and the Eastern Province have been requested to amplify the advisory within local labor camps and residential quarters to ensure widespread compliance.
