The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has officially dismissed claims alleging irregularities and quota rule violations in the recruitment process for more than 17,000 teaching positions across the state.

The clarification comes in the wake of memorandums and social media campaigns initiated by candidate groups who alleged that vertical and horizontal reservation guidelines—mandated for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS)—were improperly applied during the shortlisting and seat-allocation phases.

Official Defense of Recruitment Process

Commission officials stated that all vacancy notifications and corresponding stage-wise rosters strictly adhere to constitutional provisions and state government recruitment rules. According to the commission, claims suggesting that reserved-category candidates were denied lawful representation or migration into unreserved merit lists are baseless and misinformed.

"The entire selection framework operates in full compliance with established state reservation statutes and administrative directives issued by the Department of Higher and Secondary Education," an official confirmed. "Every post is distributed across categories in strict accordance with the roster approved prior to the commencement of the recruitment drive."

Background of the 17,000 Vacancies

The ongoing hiring drive encompasses over 17,000 vacancies across aided secondary schools and higher educational institutions in Uttar Pradesh, covering Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT), Post Graduate Teacher (PGT), and assistant professor posts.

Teacher recruitment in the state has frequently drawn legal scrutiny, with candidate forums previously approaching the judiciary over roster implementation, overlapping subject allocations, and normalization procedures. Commission authorities reaffirmed that grievance redressal channels remain operational for genuine procedural inquiries, urging candidates to avoid relying on unverified claims circulating on digital platforms.
